After visiting Chitose River, we stopped at the Kappo-Tempura Yokoi to eat some traditional Japanese food. The Kappo-Tempura Yokoi is a traditional tempura restaurant. Tempura is a type of Japanese dish, where they fry almost everything that's edible. When we were waiting for our food to arrive, we saw the chefs frying our food. They fried the food in a giant pan filled with oil. They put all the interesting foods in the pan, and took them out after they were fried. Some of the foods they fried were okra, eggplant, lotus heads, shrimp, moon cake, lettuce, and salmon. Most of the foods were strange, and we didn't think they should've been fried.

At the Kappo-Tempura Yokoi, we learned about other kinds of Japanese foods. Some other interesting types of Japanese foods are unagi, sashimi, and tsukedani. Unagi is a form of grilling eel and seasoning it with soy sauce. At first, we thought that eel was a strange food to eat, but then we learned that it was a normal food in Japan. Sashimi is a form of raw fish commonly served with sushi. We thought that sashimi was a lot less strange than unagi, because we had eaten sushi and raw fish before. Tsukedani is cooked seafood and vegetables preserved in soy sauce. At first, we thought tsukedani was like pickled seafood and vegetables, but then we learned that it was something entirely different. Japan harbors many interesting foods, and they are all very interesting to learn about.
