Japan is a country famous for its tourist attractions, thanks to its wide variety of landforms, including mountains, volcanoes, beaches, coastlines, valleys, sand dunes, etc. Famous landforms and tourist attractions include Mount Fuji, Yonaha Maehama, Jigokudani, and the Tottori Sand Dunes.

The terrain is mainly rugged and mountainous, made up of 66% forest. The population is clustered in urban areas on the coast, plains, and valleys. Japan is located in the northwestern Ring of Fire on multiple tectonic plates. East of the Japanese archipelago are three oceanic trenches.

The population of Japan is 124,687,293, as of July 2021. The major ethnic groups are Japanese (97.9%), Chinese (0.6%), Korean (0.4%), and others (1.1%) , including Vietnamese, Filipino, and Brazilian.
